Guitarist for Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora, has written a new song in hopes of raising awareness to the issue of chemical dependency.
Sambora debuted the new song entitled, “Lighthouse” at a high school event to raise awareness on prescription drug and heroin dependency. The song is intended to be, “optimistic, a beacon of light and hope…when they’re far off the shore.” Sambora said.
According to the Associated Press, the guitarist admitted to using drugs in the past. As a parent of a 16 year old daughter, he spoke to the crowd of 5,000 students and parents at the high school saying that, “together we can make a difference because this epidemic has to stop.”
The new song, “Lighthouse” is available for purchase on Itunes.
The clip below is the guitarist sharing the song’s lyrics with the mother of a son who has suffered brain damage after using heroin one time.
